Spall failure of additively manufactured two-layered Cu–Ni bimetallic alloys

چکیده
The dynamic tensile spall failure of additively manufactured (AM) two-layered bimetallic GRCop-84—Inconel® 625 alloys, with planar and slanted interfaces, is investigated using uniaxial-strain plate-impact gas-gun experiments. Multiple photon Doppler velocimetry (PDV) used to monitor the back (free) surface velocity profiles determine influence interface geometry on failure. Micrographs cross sections recovered impacted samples reveal along as well in-material regions. Spall strengths determined from pull-back signals captured use multiple PDV probes illustrate different location-specific values for same sample, corresponding occurring in Inconel® 625, or GRCop-84, their interface, depending interface. results obtained experiments employing correlated microstructural observations samples, provide a useful method determining complex response including differentiation respective alloy materials relative that experiment.

Honeycombs resemble the structure of a number of natural and biological materials such as cancellous bone, wood, and cork. Thick honeycomb could be also used for energy absorption applications. Moreover, studying the mechanical behavior of honeycombs under in-plane loading could help understanding the mechanical behavior of more complex 3D tessellated structures such as porous biomaterials. In ...
